Dining in Jamaica

Jamaica breakfast

You wake up refreshed to hear the waves crashing gently on the sandy shore below. You gaze out from your verandah that gives unobstructed views of the blue Caribbean horizon as the sun gradually permeates rays of light across the mountains in the east. You look further upon the sea to discover fisherman pulling hand-built bamboo wired traps onto the sides of their boats as they eagerly pull that mornings catch into the belly of their small boats. Tonight’s dinner arrives as methodically as it did last weeks, you watch the happy fisherman drop a white 5 gallon bucket of lobster onto the shore and drag the tail end of a kingfish to the backdoor of the kitchen..”.jamaican fisherm and boat

If you are awake early enough, you might see your seafood feast arriving on the shores of Coral Cove. Little Bay fisherman often pull their sea traps during the early morning hours and later sell the catches on the Little bay beach. Coral Cove has established a good relationship with the fisherman and we are able to purchase large quantities of fresh lobster, kingfish, and gray snapper from the sea to provide to our guests.Take a stroll over to the common area near the kitchen and have a cup of traditional blue mountain coffee. If you’re not a coffee drinker, no worries, freshly squeeze orange juice is also readily available. In addition to freshly squeezed orange juice, we also offer Jamaican fare such as the national dish “ackee and saltfish” as well as fried plantain and dumplings. Some of the other traditional items like French toast, pancakes, eggs, bacon, toast, and cereals are always available as are locally grown fresh fruits. Breakfast can be served at one of many dining areas, from your balcony outside your room, or a seaside table on the beach.

Jamaican Sunset Dinner

Lunch can be what you want it to be! Some of Coral Cove specialties include: shrimp pasta, traditional Jamaican pizza cakes, beef patties, sandwiches, and of course from our bar-fresh blended smoothies to go along with that delightful lunch. Try some grilled chicken, or some pepper and pork kabobs sauteed in a spicy sauce from our outdoor “bush” grill where you can watch Jamaican fare cooked the traditional way on a wood fire! Appetizers during the day include home-made oatmeal cookies, cakes, sweetened pecan pie, golden brownies, as well as pastries fresh from the kitchen. Your night-time dining experience at Coral Cove should be nothing short of romantic and heavenly. Follow the tiki torches out to a dining area of your choosing. Dine by the ocean’s edge by candlelit or even on your verandah overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Sample our house wine or possibly a bartender’s special. Grilled or roasted lobster, escoveitch fish, jerk or curried chicken, Jamaican beef stew and spiced pork, are just a few of the favorites served with soup, fresh vegetables, pastas, salad, and rice or potatoes. Fresh baked pies and cakes are daily fare. Our Jamaican lime pie is to die for! Nobody goes away hungry!
